In the year 2000, the developer made a family choice to start changing the way she lived, she learned how important living a healthier, more natural lifestyle was, from her grandfather. They moved their young family from the Bay Area (San Jose, CA), to an 8 acre hobby style farm in the Sacramento foothills where they now raise Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Goats, Turkeys, Chickens, Rabbits, Bees and Ducks. In 2007 the ladies of the house started tinkering with making their own body products, including lip balm, soaps, candles, ect. for their family and friends for holiday gifts. Soon after, family and friends started asking for more, especially the teen girls. One day while at a cattle show, she felt her hands burning on fire with dryness, she was desperate, she took out a Lip Schnitz and used it on her hands, needless to say the light bulb kicked on to create a hand and body bar.  Of course their friends and family learned about the bars and started using them, soon after they started receiving comments of the natural healing properties, for eczema, cuts, scrapes, bites ect., to name a few.


In 2007 / 2008 she had the unfortunate event of contracting lice for the 1st time, only to find that her 1 month old infant was allergic to lice bites, with a high fever and excessive itches. It’s hard enough with a 6 year old, but with a 1 month old infant ?! The Doctor told her that her only choice was to use extremely harsh chemicals on her 1 month old baby. We must interject a note that the creator of this product is extremely lice phobic, so obviously this did not sit well with her, however without knowledge of any other choice,  she reluctantly used the horrible chemicals sold at your local drug store. After dealing with lice for the 3rd time in the same year, she literally went neurotic, spending days on the internet learning everything she could about the little buggers. She then created a natural cure, and daily deterrent, for which she  and her girls use every day. Not long after she started having friends ask to try it who were also complaining about lice. They soon found that this treatment not only was great for deterring lice, but she then started getting reports from friends that it also kills them & THEIR EGGS. The pre-school started asking for her to give it to "problem families" at which point she then decided to patent this amazing product. 

In 2010 Her Aunt, in desperation started to use the product on her dog, who is allergic to almost all flea products on the market. It surprised them both to see the fleas scatter and literally jump off the dog or die right before their eyes, this of course started the next phase of flea solutions.

In 2012 her middle child came to her screaming that her milking show goat,  had something crawling all over it. At 1st she thought it was fleas, however after a call to the vet she found them to be lice. Luckily they are not transferable to humans however like human lice they are transferable to other animals. So of course they started a trial testing, they sprayed 1/2 the goat with the Lice spray and nothing on the other 1/2. Of course you know what happened next , the lice all scurried to the non treated side. Within a few days the goat was Lice free and ready to go to the show they were prepping for.

We could go on & on about each species, the stories ect., however it all just leads us to a string of events that lead to having other friends try it on their different pets and farm animals for fleas, mites, lice & other pests.

Schnitz Body Products is Located in Shingle Springs, California. We offer a full range of products including lip balms, hand bars, body bars, massage bars, lotions, soaps & oils. We also offer a complete line of natural pest products for your pets. 

We always get people asking us about the name, so we decided to share it publicly. The developer's husband, like many men, cannot stand lip balm, chap stick, lipstick, ect., he would always call the product Lip SH*%,. Of course they couldn't call it that, and they never imagined that they would be selling their products to the open market. As a joke they came up with a name that family and friends would laugh at and appreciate, "Lip Schnitz", and so it stuck.

We at Schnitz have never been believers in chemicals, drugs, antibiotics, ect., We have always searched for better, more natural methods to cure what ails us. We truly believe that anything we put on our bodies should not only make us feel good, but should have healing properties as well. We ONLY use high quality ingredients that we are willing to put on our own family or pet's skin. Everything we make for the public, we use personally on a daily basis.
